According to a recent Insurance Business Magazine article, experts say that humans are the weakest link to cyber security. The threat of phishing attacks is constantly growing, and they target people that may not be able to determine if an email or link is legitimate.
Phishing is a cyber security attack that tricks people into thinking the email or link belongs to a well-known business to get them to click on a link that leads to a fake website. While email is the most popular, phishing attempts can occur via text messages and social media websites too. The website usually asks for personal information that will allow hackers to access accounts or companies’ networks.
Businesses can prepare their employees for phishing attacks by requiring cyber training, but they should also have a plan for if a malicious link is clicked. They should also have a cyber insurance policy that protects them, their employees, and their data in case of a breach.
