According to the latest cyber report from Beazley, a global insurance firm specializing in cyber security, professional service firms are being increasingly targeted by cyber attacks.
One reason firms are being targeted is the amount of data they have on their servers. Even if the data that firms have is old and may not be useful to hackers, it can still tarnish your firm’s reputation should it fall victim to a cyber-attack.
Another way that hackers can use this data is to send phishing emails to your clients to gain further information or money from them. If your clients are trusting of emails coming from your firm, they likely will not think twice about giving information to hackers.
A few ways to help keep your firm from being a victim are employing multi-factor authentication and holding anti-phishing training for your firm’s associates. For more tips on preventing your firm from being a target, check out Insurance Business Magazine’s article on cyber risks.
