With hurricane season approaching, now is the time to make sure your property insurance is up to date. Newswise shared some tips to help you be prepared if a hurricane hits your area.
Checking your insurance coverage is extremely important when it comes to preparing for hurricane season. Most policies will cover wind damage, but flood damage could be an entirely separate policy. You should also check to make sure you have enough coverage. With the cost of materials rising and inflation, your insurance policy may not cover all the costs of repairs that it would previously.
Another tip Newswise shared was to mitigate the damage to your property after a storm. Most insurance policies will cover your expenses if your building becomes uninhabitable, along with the cost of temporary repairs. You should also make sure your building is fit to survive less impactful storms. While hurricanes can cause a lot of damage, any previous damage makes your building more susceptible to further damage when stronger storms go through.
