Colorado State University’s hurricane research team has released its early predictions for the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season. It is expected to be slightly below average in terms of activity.
CSU’s Tropical Meteorology Project team has predicted that there will be 13 named storms during hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30. The team is also predicting more uncertainty than usual due to an El Niño moving into the area. El Niño can make it harder for hurricanes to strengthen. It is not supposed to move into the area until late summer, however, so it is hard to predict the effect it could have on this year’s hurricane season.
