The United States experiences more weather disasters than the rest of the world, and its geography is one of the biggest reasons.

With two oceans and varying climates, the US frequently has clashing storm fronts that produce more severe weather, according to a recent Insurance Journal article. Combined with climate change and where cities have been built, the weather in the US has become the home for severe weather.

While the type of weather disaster varies depending on where you live, areas like the Southern US can experience all extreme weather events, from blizzards to hurricanes.

Because of this, property owners need to ensure their policies are up to date so they are prepared for any disaster. Many buildings are not built to be climate-resilient, and without a current property insurance policy, it may not cover all the damage a storm could cause.
