According to a recent article from Insurance Journal, Karen Clark & Co is estimating $5.4 billion worth of insured damages between residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
Winter Storm Elliot crossed 42 states from December 21 through December 24 with Georgia, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas being affected most. Buffalo, New York saw more than 40 inches of snow.
Commercial property losses are expected to make up around 50% of the projected insured losses. Some of the worst damages were caused by the freezing temperatures that came with the storm which caused pipes to burst and disruptions to infrastructures.
